The house is accessed via a private driveway, surrounded by its' one acre plot. Depending on the time of day and the season, there are lots of sunny or shady seating areas to choose from. The property is fenced and there is a wildflower area, a separate paddock and a boules area. Fruit trees include pear, plum and peach. A 64m2 two-storey stone barn with cave is currently used as a garage and there is a 36m2 hangar. An old goat shed completes the quota of outbuildings and is currently the storage area for all the garden furniture / BBQ etc.

Location

The house is situated in an elevated position on the edge of Saint Cyr des Gats, the views extend over the surrounding countryside. Saint Cyr is a pretty village with a restaurant that is also a depot de pain for the morning bread supplies. There is also a bar/tabac, hairdresser, school and library. A cheese and charcuterie truck comes to the village on Wednesday mornings. Two lakes on the edge of the village are perfect for walks and picnics and, if you've honed your petanque technique on pitch at the house, there is also village boules area if you want to showcase your skills.

Saint Cyr is a 20 min drive from Mervant where there is a watersports lake, a forest with great hiking and the renowned La Lutine bakery for a well-earned pastry after all your exertions.

Fontenay le Comte is a wonderful medieval market town, again just 15 mins away. There are numerous restaurants to choose from and the fresh produce market comes to town twice a week, Wednesdays and Saturdays. There is a full range of shops and services including two large supermarkets, schools, colleges and a modern hospital.

La Rochelle is an hour away, as is the coast and the nearest airport. St Malo ferry port is a 3.5 hour drive. Other towns, villages and attractions in the area that are well worth exploring include Vouvant, La Chataigneraie, Puy du Fou, and Lucon which is the nearest railway station.
